Who is Jadav Payeng?

Jadav Payeng was born on March 31, 1963, in Molai. Which is a remote village of in the Jorhat district of Assam, India. Due to growing up in a rural environment Payeng was deeply connected to nature and the environment. Growing up he observed the environmental degradation that was constantly occurring around him. The study and practice of managing forests and forested areas for a variety of goals, including recreation, conservation, timber production, and ecosystem health, is known as forestry. It entails the management, maintenance, and cultivation of forests in order to suit human needs and preserve the natural balance and biodiversity they support. Planning and executing strategies to preserve and improve the productivity and health of forest ecosystems is known as “forest management.” This covers tasks including planting, pruning, harvesting, and controlling pests. Preservation of forest ecosystems is necessary to maintain biodiversity, the quality of the soil, water supplies, and other ecological processes. Managing wildlife habitats, rehabilitating degraded forests, and establishing protected areas are some examples of conservation initiatives. Silviculture is the art of cultivating and tending to trees in forested areas. This entails being aware of how various tree species grow, how forests regenerate, and how different management strategies affect the composition and structure of forests. Recreation and Education: Offering chances for outdoor pursuits including hiking, camping, and wildlife viewing, along with educational courses regarding sustainable methods and forest ecosystems. The management of forests to satisfy present demands without endangering the capacity of future generations to satisfy their own needs is known as sustainable forestry. This covers activities like preserving the forest cover, encouraging biodiversity, and selective logging. Agroforestry is the practice of incorporating trees and shrubs into agricultural landscapes in order to improve environmental health and production. Forest Inventory and Monitoring: Gathering information to guide management choices on forest resources, such as species, ages, conditions, and growth rates. In order to keep natural ecosystems in balance, provide resources for human use, and guarantee the sustainability of wooded landscapes, forestry is essential.
