About Us

The Ecoliteracy Hub Manitoba is a virtual place to share information, ideas, knowledge, alternatives and action plans towards finding a way forward in the midst of late capitalist collapse.  We hope to share and exchange: understandings of how we got here; information about the history of decades and centuries of resistance and the creative re-thinking of society and civilization; and the biggest, brightest and best ideas of ecological thinkers, activists and futurists.

Rooted in the life work of our late friend and mentor Vere Hunt Scott, the Ecoliteracy Hub hopes to see the big world’s problems as a shared endeavour and to relate the task of redesigning our post/late-industrial civilization to local Manitoban contexts, networks and community.

Whether you have come here from near or far, we welcome you and offer these resources, inspired by the Vere Hunt Scott Ecospheric and Natural History Library and Archives, housed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on Treaty 1 territories traditional to the Anishinaabeg, Anishininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Denesuline and Nehethowuk Nations, and from the national heart of the Red River Métis.

We are available to collaborate with you to spread ecological literacy throughout Manitoba’s community schools, universities, neighbourhoods, and anywhere people are looking for a new way of thinking that is actually about remembering a much older ethos committed to protecting life on Earth.
